3 Totally Amazing Wedding Ideas

  1. Travel to wherever your hearts desire!
When you close your eyes and imagine your dream wedding, where is it? How does it look? How does it feel and sound? Is it indoor or out? Secluded or surrounded by people? Hot, cold, temperate? Do you hear the sounds of birds chirping or trees rustling? If it’s a beach, are the waves crashing against incredible rock formations or gently lapping the shore? Is it your family’s property where it’s tradition to tie the knot going back generations? Is it on a net looking over a majestic canyon with a few of your nearest and dearest? Near or far, the venue for your wedding will set the tone for the entire event. It will determine who attends, what to wear, how to decorate, what food to serve, what sort of entertainment is appropriate, etc… Make it speak to who you are as a couple, everything else will fall into place (unless you chose the net over the canyon wedding, then we just won’t talk about falling).
  2. Start a new tradition!
Different religions, societies, and cultures have their own sacred rituals that are performed at every wedding. It’s completely up to you if you choose to honor these, omit them, or incorporate your own ideas. On a wedding day, the only legally binding portion are your vows. They are your contract to each other. Everything else, yes, literally everything, was incorporated along the way for one reason or another by someone who thought it would be a good idea. Therefore, you can chose to include them or not. One of my favorite events to now include is the sealed love letter. Each person writes a love letter to the other about what it means to them to be marrying their person on that day. The letters are then placed in a locked box during the ceremony. It is explained that the box is to be left unopened until one of two events, whichever happens first. One being that the couple is in a desperate time that absolutely calls for the reminder of the time they were so in love and couldn’t wait to spend the rest of their life together. The other time the box may be opened is on an agreed upon anniversary. It’s a wonderful way to have a keepsake in your home that simultaneously reminds you of the most amazing day that has passed and the most amazing days yet to come.
  3. Switch it up!
Have you seen those wonderfully cheesy rom com wedding movies- of course you have! How about when Juliet and Peter turn to their loved ones to be announced as married when the band starts playing “All You Need is Love” from every corner of the chapel? Or when Tim Lake makes his father James his best man after playing out the other options and finding out he’d rather forego the embarrassments from his friends. The one rule in wedding ceremonies is that there are no rules! Surprise everyone by doing something off the wall, but that totally makes sense to you, and you can’t go wrong. BTW, bonus points for knowing the movie titles of the two mentioned.

The most important thing to remember about your wedding day is that it is YOUR WEDDING DAY! The best weddings we’ve all seen are the ones that are deeply personal to the couple, or present an element of surprise for the audience. Whatever you would like to do, I’d love to be with you to make it happen!

    Love & Smiles,
    Brandi
